Wow....just wow.
I saw this car on our local Craigslist and thought the pictures were interesting enough to post here for posterity purposes. Listed as a "Convertible Porshe replica 959".
BTW: I know how to spell Porsche...it was misspelled in the ad. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1375133756.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1375134067.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1375134163.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1375134185.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1375134202.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1375134218.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1375134230.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1375134244.jpg |
Yikes! VW four banger?
|
WOW - all show and NO go!
|
yikes, what did get hacked for that thing? It has 4 lug wheels but its rear engine - so did they do the opposite of a 914-6 and transplant 914 suspension to a 911/912?

You know, you see these abominations all the time. I would love to talk to one these people and ask, "why"?
|
FYI: Info on build from ad:
359 classic by C.M.C. Rock solid frame that bolts to a bug pan 914 motor and transaxle 912 front end 4 wheel disc brakes motor is balanced and built with 2.27 liter pistons with cam and 44mm Webber carbs. |
Good grief....
|
that would be difficult to save.
|
Every time I see one of these projects, my only thought is, "That cost a lot of money and time. How could a group of people proceed with such a project without somebody saying, 'Wait a minute, guys.'?"
It's like sitting on the wrong end of a branch as you saw it off the tree. Doesn't anybody eventually see the error of their ways? I'm mystified every time. |
Its an ABOMINATION . . . . . .just Morally Wrong . . . . .:D
|
It's missing more bling! LOL
|
It sure looks as if it was a lot of work to do this. So what?

Scott,
You know that I just sold my 73 and I am on the hunt for the next big thing.........don't tease me with these clusterfuchs!!! Al |
There's one saving grace - the guy didn't start with a real 356. Though, old bugs are getting more rare too.
|
As always, it's an answer to a question nobody ever asked.

Do the owner a favor and remove the fire extinguisher. You can't take any chances with something like that.
|
I sorta like it, but would never destroy an old VW to build it.
If local and cheap enough, I would definitely pimp it around town. |
uggg
Did you ever get the wind knocked out of you? Kinda does that to me.... |
A rare sighting of dipso's "porshe"
|
Guy wants $9000, says its been appraised at $20k.

Odie refused to even consider riding in that, and he likes riding around in cars:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1375205841.jpg Odie is a Labradork, and has very low standards, hence the "Cruiser. BTW that picture is about 15 miles from Santa Cruz Calif. |
