What's this hose, what's this plug?

Hi,

while re-installing the engine in my '80 SC (US) I came found a hose and a plug that I have no idea of what they are for, nor do I know where to connect them to. The hose comes from the far left corner of the engine compartment and has a diameter of approx 1/2 inch. The cable of the plug comes from behind the electrical console.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Manfred

I don't know about the plug, but the hose looks like the one that comes from the charcoal gas filter, it should go to your air filter housing.

Hose may be from the carbon canister on the right rear of the engine - over by the oil tank. It hooks into the drivers side of the airbox. There is a port for it.

The connector is for the rear window defroster. The male part I have in my hand is the side that connects to the window near the driver's side engine lid hinge.

RSTarga & Bob,

you guys are great! Now I have to find the open port at the air box and the lonely male plug. Both should be easy one knowing what to look fore.

Thanks, Manfred.

ManniB, you bought a U.S. spec Porsche and you live in Germany...... I would have thought "our" cars would be lower in horsepower than the home market cars.

Yes, the German '80 SC would have had 8 HP more. Now what? ;-) Problem with cars that ran all their life in Germany is RUST. My other vintage car is a 1971 T5 Mach 1 (Mustang) that spent all it's life in Germany. When I restored it years ago I was working for 1 1/2 years on the sheet and structural metal until I had the car ready for painting. Didn't want to go through that again with the 911. The US Porsche was rust free and, at the same time, relatively cheap, so I bought it and I'm happy I did!
