scratches on chrome hub caps
What is the best way of removing scratches? I have used chrome polish- no help. I have a buffing wheel and that did not remove them. Do I need to have them re-chromed?
Thanks Tom

You can try 4 '0000' steel wool on them, (really fine steel wool, not coarse).
It polishes up chrome really nice. I am not sure if it will remove scratches though, depends on the depth of the scratch. Good luck! Craig

There is no good way to pull a scratch from chrome by levelling it out to the adjacent areas using any sort of polisher or mild abrasive. What will happen is you will slowly see the chrome disappear, replaced by the brassy-colored layer underneath.
If the scratch is deep, rechrome. If it is light, you might have to live with it. Since there is typically a minimum charge for chroming, try to gather up enough parts to make the entire task/$ worthwhile.
