Repair of Interior A/C trim
Newby question here. The A/C vent trim on my '74 Carrera doesn't seem to attach to much. The ends flop about with no real structure. Am I missing parts or was this just a cheapo dealer install. The look of it is the same as most of the A/C systems of that time. Not a one-off deal. Wish I could just take it off, but too hot in South Carolina.
![]() Not a great pic - but all I had handy.

There were 2 knee pad vent systems at the time.
The Behr 6 louver. The VPC 4 louver; is what you have it appears. Check your mounting hardware underneath. New aftermarket replacement vent louvers are available for the VPC, I'm not aware of any for the Behr. The 2 different brand knee pads are not easily interchangeable because of the tube shape and routing between the evaporator box outlet and the knee pad vent panel inlet, and the evaporator boxes are different as well. You might be able to repair a cracked panel if you can determine the type of plastic used, and if you want to get innovative you could cover the face of the panel with a leatherette; a winter project.
