Master Cylinder replacement help?

I just replaced the brake master cylinder on my 80 SC and all went well except, I can't get the bolt back into the bar that stabilizes the entire brake booster unit. It's a gold colored bar that runs from the pedals into the silver unit bolted to the booster/master cylinder on the floor in the front trunk. Loosening and moving the entire unit around doesn't seem to help me get the bolt started? Anyone else have this problem?

Make sure you're trying to reconnect the bar in the correct position. I remember when I replaced my MC this past winter that I was confused for a little while as to how to reconnect the bar. It didn't appear to line up properly, but I simply wasn't putting the parts together in the proper order/orientation.

Also, you can remove the plastic plugs on the vaccuum booster housing (big aluminum block) to get at the connection. Use a screwdriver inside of the openings to push the rod in the right direction.

Hope that helps some?
