Do You Like Your Sump Valve?

If you're using a sump valve... do you like it? I was told "they leak."

My 84 came to me with one. It doesn't leak, but I'm planning on replacing it with a regular old plug at next oil change. For a track car, I don't want to have to think about a stick or something (I do go off the track occasionally) knocking it open.

Works great for me. I'm very happy with mine. Oil pours nice & easy. Perhaps the mild Los Angeles climate helps but I highly recommend these little things. No, they don't leak.

I use one on my tank and like it a lot. I hesitate to use one on the sump for fear of knocking it off on a stray rock or some such.

That's a good point Moss. I never considered putting it on the sump for the reason you mentioned... Only on the tank.

What 'mossguy' said. I've used one for several years - but only on the oil tank. I don't really want one at the lowest point of the engine "just in case"!
