901 Trans Support

I am in process of pullin 3.0 engine to replace broken stud, transmission is a '70 901 limited slip. Thinkin of replacing transmission mount and found out this are not replaceable like 915 tranny mounts.

Can someone verify if 915 tranny support will fit a 901 tranny? Will mounting holes line up when putting back in car?

Please help as 901 tranny support are difficult to find and would like other way to fix the problem.

TIA,
R2911

Just punch the old rubber donuts out - swiss cheese them with your drill, then get a set of polygraphite mounts from Jonathan "HWGunner" on Eboy, you will be all set.

Have done this a bunch of times and works well. The 915 trans mount will not fit, it is a different stamping.

I removed my 901 transmission mounts last night. On the side of the bushing that mounts to body, I used a three inch cut off wheel and made cuts across the face of the metal bushing so it looked like a pizza cut into eight slices. Then I took a steped drill bit that goes up to 3/4" I drilled out the metal bushing as deep as the drill bit would go. At this point I keep the drill going and rocked it side to side until the bushing was turning and the rubber was smoking...aweful smell. Then I could pull the bushing out from the other side. Then I cut some slits in the remaining rubber with a box cutter. Then I got a screwdriver and put it between the rubber and the cross member and pushed toward the center. I was able to push the rubber out. It takes alot of elbow grease but went better than when I tried to do the swiss cheese method on other bushings. Seeing how much a new crossmember costs was my inspiration. I plan to use the mounts from Rebel that our host sells. They are at the bottom of this link:

I havent seen instructions on how to install these, I hope its easier than removing the old mounts. If anybody has experience installing these, it would be nice to know if there is anything that can be done to make the installation go smoothly.

They are the same design as the engine mounts if that helps.
