Hello everyone,
I just picked up a 1970 911t and also bought a 3.6 motor , so have a 911 rs/rsr project started , need some input as to build it as a rs or a rsr !.the car currently has 911rs steel rear flares, but would put 911 steel turbo flares all around and front and rear spoilers to match and a duck tail .I also have a 3.6 motor 1991, that im planning on putting in this car.Im stripping the body and repainting, and would like to see some 1970 rs-rsr colors, but dont want .. black red ( already have a red slant turbo body car ![]() silver brown so if anyone can post different colors of 911 rs or 911rsr cars , that would be GREATLY apriciated, as i'll need to start painting engien compartment in a few weeks. so here is the build specs ( please add your input ! ) 1970 body (have ) 1981 rear suspension with 930 turbo brakes (have ) 1981 front suspension with 930 floating turbo brakes (have ) 1991 3.6 engine (have ), also have oil cooling system 911sc 915 trans ( need ) need front and rear torsion bar sizes ?? duck tail and turbo steel flares front and rear spoilers if going rsr and body ? 911 rs .. like it is , or get sawsall out and start cutting and adding 930 turbo flares, replica of 1973 2.8 rsr ? Also im selling the current running gear in the 1970, the car has a 2.7 modded engine with webbers msd headers ect .., and a modded 901 trans, engine has bad compression in 2 cly's .. also selling rear and front suspension/brake stuff stuff here is the current car pick ( note: the paint looks better in the picture .. it needs a full strip ! ) with steel rear rs flares |

I would leave it as an RS in it's current color or a color of your choice. Aubergine, Gulf Orange or White all look good to me in RS guise.

POVI, I have a copy of John Starkey's 911 R-RS-RSR, Production & Racing History, Individual Chassis Record, 2.8/3.0 & RS 3.0 which has really great color pictures of interior, exterior and engine compartment. This is THE book to have on the R-RS-RSR. I'm always willing to help out a fellow Pelican. If you want I will loan you the book for as long as you need it to make your replica. All I ask is that when you are done you mail it back to me. Interested?

I like both RS & RSR styles but prefer the '73 2.8 RSR look - the main problem with going down this route is the wheels.
The original 2.8 RSR used 9" & 11" x 15" Fuchs which are very rare (& expensive - I know, I've just bought a set !!) but finding (road legal) tyres to fit is becoming more & more difficult. ![]() ![]() Andy Boyle (UK) '69 911E Last edited by andyjboy; 08-06-2002 at 09:00 AM.. |

911 RS OR RSR .. help decide and colors
How bout this,
Look through a 73' 911 color guide and pick any period color you like… OR … mix and match any 73' color with any other for stripes, accents, number circles, etc. Looking through my RS-RSR books it seems alot of the racing teams did just that. Think, Viper Green and any of a number of 73' blues… or… Signal Orange and God-knows-what…. You get the idea. Just a thought.... Chuck |

How about the Gulf Blue and Orange combination? It's loud, historic, and looks good. You don't see that many of them around.

I would go for the RSR look since there are quite a few of the RS look. Paint it silver with the Martini stripe
There is a book by Thomas Gruber and Georg Konradsheim that is apparently the last word on the RS series cars. Perhaps if you can find the book you will get more information.

Do the RSR, and I think Gulf blue would be very different, and very cool.
