Rennline Lower Dash Installation

Considering the Rennline lower dash cover for my '76 911, for that lovely clean/minimalist look. I was wondering how the stock lower dash trim is removed? Are the vinyl-covered pieces of foam/plastic simply glued on? Thanks.

Lower Dash

The knee pads are not glued on they have small studs that run through the metal behind the dash. You can get to them from inside the car but you will have to lay on your back upside down.

It may be easier to take access them by taking out the ash tray and glove box door. Hope this helps.

Good Luck

Bob

Thanks Bob. I already have the knee pads off. I was referring to the vertical sections of dash. E.g. Surrounding the radio and ventilation controls. Ignition etc.

Those are glued on. There are some things (switches, etc.) that have to be removed first, depending on which piece you are working on.

Yep some of the knobs will need to be removed. Often people just want to see if the knobs are a "friction fit" and just pull right off with a good solid tug. Nope. Some of them you need to fold the rubber surround back and carefully pry the plastic center symbol out. Then you'll see the nut that is holding the knob onto the switch shaft!

Good luck and keep us posted if you go with the Rennline. I bought one over the winter when they had a nice discount sale. Still sitting on the shelf awaiting the interior re-do while I fix a bunch of other racecar issues- like teh engine.......

Thanks all. I found a very nice description of how to disconnect everything to allow for removal of all the dash pieces -->here.

Rennline lower dash has been ordered. Can't wait to fit it along with the Momo Prototipo!
