steering wheel up and down play 88 911

How far should the steering wheel move if you apply pressure up and down?

Is this the consensus for the fix?
Mitch Leland's Steering Wheel Bushing

One thread mentions a write up by John Walker. Anybody remember where it is or how to find it?

Just installed Mitch's bushing and I can report that the install was simple and that the bushing works great. Warren

With my steering wheel the bushing was shot and Mitch's bushing was a simple and great upgrade. This alone did not completely fix my issues. I had movement of the whole column. The shear bolts that secure the steering column to the dash were so loose I could remove them by hand. Replaced the shear bolts with hex head bolts and it has been issue free for years.

I got rid of the loose shear bolts a while back, too. I've got Mitch's bushing staring at me as I type...

How does one go about installing it with a Momo extended hub and a Snap-Off removeable Momo steering wheel? I assume I'll have to take the entire hub off but I'm wondering about the steering wheel alignment.

Take the hub off, follow Mitch's directions..if the original has broken apart try to first remove and clean out all the little bits.
