Can a rotor replacement do all this?

Just replaced the rotor on my '83SC - am I imaging things, or does the car have a bunch more "get-up-and-go"? I've got no idea when it was last replaced. I didn't replace the cap, could I get even more vroom? I replaced the spark plugs about 200 miles ago.

Is the old rotor worth saving as a just-in-case spare?

Yes, replace the cap too. If it ran a scorch mark on the rotor, don't you think the cap looks the same too?

Yes - keep both the old cap and old rotor as spares.

still want to keep the old one?

How's this for a beat-up contact? Do I still keep it?

Honestly - that looks like crap.

At the same time, was it working when you pulled it? If so, then why wouldn't it be a backup?

Unless you buy a new one as a backup. Your backup shouldn't last forever, it should last just a little bit, until you can get help. Kinda like your spare tire......

Toss it in the glove box in case your new one vaporizes for some reason.

Toss it and buy a new one to keep in the glove box.
