Rear shock installation question
Hi all,
'89 Carrera, Stock T-bars, Euro height. New Bilstein HD's...original Boge's needed retirement. Do both "spacers" - white and cream-colored - stay on the shock under the dust tube on installation? Thanks in advance. John ![]() ![]()

I would keep the bellows, but lose the white bumpers. Have you compared the fully extended length of the new units vs the old? If they are the same length, you are free to keep as much of the bump stops as you desire. If the HD's are shorter, omit as least the white spacers.
You can also trim down any number of the bellows pillows if you car is really low and there was evidence of bottoming with the old shocks. (I thought the HDs and Sports were yellow) Bill K

My 86 is a little below Euro height. My bumpstops were one piece and I cut them down. With two piece units like yours I'd toss the white spacer and keep the cream bump stop. -J

Shock travel
Bill K,
Pics of Boges vs. Bilstein...Boges looks to have a bit more travel. Cut the bump stops or the bellows? Thanks, John ![]() ![]()
