Targa movable vent window rubber replacement

I have searched the forum to no avail on the proper method to replace the window rubber on a 1975S Targa movable vent window.

Has anyone done this?
Any advice?

Thanks

Yes, the easiest way is to take the door frame out of the door and then remove the pivot so you can take the wing window out. Then insert rubber, put the quarter window back in and reinsert frame.

Just happen to be doing this myself before swapping them out for my stationary ones..
1. Remove entire vent window assembly from door, put it on a towel on your workbench.
2. Remove felt from main window guide channel if you are replacing it. (I am and it is really glued into these old frames!)
3. Remove bottom nut and clamp on the pivot of the window frame post and remove the 4 Phillips screws around the frame that are visible.
4. Remove window from frame and then remove the rubber. Clean and polish as needed...
5. Install new rubber and put it all back together.
6. Re-install or replace channel felt,
7. Re-install window assembly and adjust.

If you are replacing the small rubber tips (guides) at the top of the frame you need to do this while it is apart. Buy the tips and new rivets for it, then drill the old rivets out, install the new tip and install the blind rivets. (Find a tool for these rivets)

Good luck, hope this is helpful.

Sorry, door panels and all required hardware have to come off to get the frame out.

To replace the window stops you must also separate the vertical portion from the vent frame to be able to drill out old rivets and insert a buck in the channel as a counter.
