Fluid seems to be down 1/2 to 3/4 inch from side filler plug when we check it and tranny fluid has leaked all over tranny.

Can you share a photo of the vent location and orientation? I opened a thread in our forums for this discussion.

The breather should face the front of the car ( contrary to what would seem normal).

Exactly, there is a vacuum created while driving and if the vent hole is oriented anywhere but forward (toward the cab) it'll suck out your fluid. |

No, it's actually because the breather has a down tube on the inside that has a fishtail cut on the end. If it isn't oriented correctly the ring gear(?) splashes oil on it and it comes out the breather.

Trans vent
I had the same issue when I converted my 914-6 to a 915 trans. When the vent is incorrectly oriented, it really does make a mess on the outside of the trans!

Thanks all. Since I have turned the 911 engine and 915 tranny around to put in the 914 can we turn the breather to face the front of the car without causing problems? Jack Stands-seems we may have a similar project-may have more questions for you.

Trans vent
Good luck! Turning the vent 180 degrees once the R&P is flipped should take care of it.
