Last week I met the guy who bought it. Nice guy with a truly impressive collection of cars.

Will be a shame if it's not. When I read above that it ended up in someone's "collection" it made me sad to think that it might end up sitting in a trophy case.

When I was a kid I collected baseball cards. But one day I realized that I was missing out on PLAYING baseball. To each his own though.

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy car parts which is kind of the same thing.

I must be in the minority here, I don't think that car is worth $300k. Kudos to Magnus for what he does but at the end of the day, it's a "designer' hot-rod.
I love the Singer cars but $300-$500k is obscene. I guess there must be enough buyers out there to command these prices.

However cool that car is, 300k is INSANE!

All the "social marketing" is paying off!

Funny thing is if you watch the video the guy talking states the car is worth 100 to 200K... Run away bidding at an auction maybe?
Oh well, just makes the rest of our cars more valuable.

i was quite surprised to see it go for over 300K. It is a great vehicle and a work of art but with many other works of art the marginal benefit changes from individual to individual. But i would not have gone for it at that price.

You have to wonder what value will be placed on that car 10-15 years from now should the "urban outlaw/hot rod 911" fad fade away. Originality always commands a premium. Will these modified 911's command the same?

I had a chance to buy a Picasso pencil sketch in the 80's for $800............

Yes, a marketer, but all of that aside, he is an astounding artist. It ain't the car, it's the art.

That car will be hermetically sealed.

I don't think I will ever be a serious "art collector"...whether I could afford it or not. I'll stick with cars (the ones you actually drive).

I am with you. The buyer just rolled the dice. Hope it pays off for him.

Microsoft and Cisco stock were also available around that time. I did not buy either of them, let alone the Picasso.

...........but I did paint the front valance on a 78 RX-7 with a Preval paint sprayer.

I'd heard that it went to the Ingram collection, if true you can trust that it won't be driven hard.
