a question about hose size

Is -8 the same size as 1/2 inch hose??

Yes, the dash-number is the inch size in 16ths. -12 is 3/4", -16 is 1"

Does anyone know the I.D. of the plactic tube used to attach to the brake bleed nipple, and any advice on how long that tube ought to be.
