New windshield sparkles - defect?
I had the windshield professionally replaced about a month ago and now I notice that there are sparkles in the glass. This is not sandblasting from road debris, it looks like in is in the windshield itself. Anyone experience this or know of problems with Pilkington glass?
Thanks, Ken |

I've never seen that before. If the place is local, perhaps they will have an explanation.

It is odd, lower passenger side only and only noticeable in the sunlight...calling on Tues. to let them know I would like them to look at it. I hoped to get some info here before then.

are you sure your passenger didn't just go overboard with the glitter?

Was the windshield cleaned with a microfiber towel?
Microfiber towels will shed some of their "microfibers". Especially true if the towels have been run through a dryer. This breaks down the towels much faster. The fibers will really POP when the light hits them and look like a glittery surface. My $.02 from a detailers perspective. Cooper (odd that you only see this in one corner of the glass though)? |

Cooper,
Never really thought of how the microfiber particles would cling to the glass windscreen. Going out now to really look closer at this. This forum is great!! Ken |

As it turns out Cooper had it right, 10 minutes cleaning vigorously with a tery towel and glass cleaner and the windscreen is clear without sparkles. Boy do I feel foolish....at least I'm down off the ledge.
Thanks again to Cooper911SC. Ken |

Hi Ken, really glad that worked out!
Don't feel foolish. It really does look like funky glitter, esp. if you haven't seen that effect before. Cooper |
