Update on wipers. I pulled the gauges and gave the mechanism a tap. Got them going. Lubed them up and they were fine....until the next day. Went on once and then wouldn't go on again. What's going on?

It's possible you have short circuit, an open wire or a bad connection. I would trace the wiper circuit with a wiring diagram, check for open / corroed wires or loose connections.

Yeah, no. I retested everything. 12.5 volts at the plug. Motor runs occasionally, and well. When I turn it off, sometimes it turns back on, other times not. When it won't start, a tap with a long screwdriver against the mechanism gets it going every time. Someone posted 'bad commutator', and I'm beginning to think he's right, even though I didn't know what a commutator was yesterday.
Whaddaya think?

Replaced the motor with a used motor. Bingo.
Not easy to do. Have to pull gauges to get access, plus all frunk junk like cover, fresh air blower, plenum, defrost plenum etc to get access as well.
Might as well reverse wipers while you're doing that, and lube all moving parts of HVAC system.
