Aligning clutch fork with 915 tranny in car?
Hi,
I have searched this forum to how best to see the clutch fork position when mating the engine to the transmission but all the posts refer to doing it with both the engine and transmission on the ground. I am doing this with the transmission in the car. I have pulled the starter motor so I can look in there to see the clutch fork but it looks like I would have to drop the motor and transission a long way to be able to look down in there. Do I need to use a mirror and flash light to do this? Cheers Bill

Bill, look through the bell housing vent hole using a mini-mag flashlight. Using a mirror will be easier, but you can see the fork. As you push, by small increments, the engine into its mounted position, make minor adjustments to the fork's position using a long, skinny screwdriver.

lean over the engine and use a mirror and flashlight in this hole. use a skinny screwdriver in the top hole (12 oclock) to adjust the fork position.
