Rothsports Hidden Heat?

This is very cool. Has anybody tried to fab this up in the garage. Love the clean engine compartment idea. Not sure you could even do this from the back of a 3.0 or 3.2, been a while since I looked at one removed from a car.

I had to remove the heater hoses from engine to exchangers. While driving without the hoses, I noticed that the footwell blowers suck enough air to the cabin. Even in freezing temperatures.

Im not going to put the hoses back anymore.

There is 2 down sides to this what i have experienced
1. You might get some exhaust smell inside when stationary
2. If you drive through water, some water might splash into exhangers and give some fog in the windshield.

I emailed Rothsport ... the engine builders about how they did it or if it was a kit they produce. I got no response. I havent sat down and really looked at it to see if it is something simple. I like the idea of it. I figure worst case scenario that you could make make a set of fiberglass elbows that would rivet to the sheet metal. You would still get hot air flow .... it wouldnt be as much at at the outlet of the fan housing but would still be plenty for heat and defrost.

Bill why do you think you would get less air flow? It seems like you are just picking the air up at the other end of the motor just a bit farther from the fan than the stock location? There is probably a reason that they did not do this from the factory though.

^^^^ my exact thoughts. In the stock location you are getting the forced air right out of the fan discharge. Here your getting it at the complete opposite end of the motor. Its going to go to the path of least resistance and down through the heads. Im sure if you had footwell blowers the air flow wouldnt be as bad as you are having a positive suction flow to the fan ... with out the fans Im sure youll get plenty of hot air its just going to be less then the OEM location. My old targa heated you right out of the car so maybe this is the perfect amount of heat. Not trying to play prof or going to post a dissertation on thermodynamics ... just using good old logic. I think its a great idea hence my thoughts to give it a shot.

You would know right away if a mouse built a nest on the engine, or there was a top end oil leak.... it would blow out the heater!

What in the world does that mean and why are you here? You keep tossing one line posts up that make little to no sense at all..

They are blocked off at engine, not just removed.

For those of you not reinstalling your air hoses. You need to realize that the air flow is for two purposes: heating the passenger compartment and helping to cool the cylinder heads. Which do you think is the primary mission?

Hint: look at where the air is diverted to the outside or to the passenger compartment.

Aren't some of the later 911s with blowers for the heat system set up to turn on the blower when the engine gets above a certain temperature, in order to help cool off the
the heads (via the heat exchangers and vented outdoors)?
