Par for the course or the beginnings of badness? Rust
Noticed what looked like rust on the door sill of a car I am looking at remotely. Seller took this closeup pic to give me a better idea of what it was. Thoughts? It looks like maybe surface rust or it might even clean up with tar remover. Not sure.

Looks more like old glue to me.

Looks like adhesive to me. Rust would come from the backside and bubble the paint.

The brown stuff is glue. The original threshold rubber trim pieces shrink in length, over time. The glue is a ***** to get off. Newer rubber trim is available with 2 sided tape.

I think this is a common place for rust as I have rust on both sides of my car in the exact same location. Unfortunately I didn't notice until I removed the rubber sill pads. Not sure how i'm going to repair since this seems to be the only rust in that location.
