smoke from exhaust

hello guys I been having a little bit of a problem with my 86 Carrera 3.2. it all started around a year ago with the computer apparently over the years when ever t would rain water would get into the car and sit on the floor level causing the computer to get wet. over time I inherited the problem (not knowing) around November/ December I got the ECU Rebuilt. installed it and turned the car on it worked like a champ. I bought a new truck so the car started to sit for quite a while considering that it was a daily driver it went to just sitting on my drive way. now the problem started with idle jumping something that has happened to me in the passed so I did all the steps necessary to see if I could fix it. apparently I couldn't so once again the car sat for a while longer. I recently turned the car on and now there's no idle jumping only maybe for a minute after start, but not the car smokes really bad. its white smoke this is something new that it has never done before it does have a cat bypass I don't think this has anything to do with it. now I started it a little over an hour ago it would smoke a little then slowly start to increase. even when I just rev it to see if it would go away it would only produce more smoke.

any information would be grateful thank you

Normal smoke from sitting, take it for a 1/2 hour drive. Should go away.
These cars need to be driven....

I would think that after the half hour drive if it is still smoking that is too much.

If it goes away then smokes again after sitting only for a few hours that is too much.

You probably have a build up of leaking oil in your exhaust ports which is tolerable - you need to take the car out and fossilize the deposits in there. Dry them out, so to speak.

I have 2 suggestions for.

1) Italian tune up (go out and run it hard, this will help clean out the deposits)
2) Keep the oil level on the low side of the dipstick. This helps keep the oil out of the cylinders while the car is sitting.

I drove my 3.2 for 250k miles and it still runs great.
Run it hard and enjoy it.

What about the valve adjust?

I had some start up smoke due to a couple of tight valves a while back. Your problem sounds like a bit more oil to burn off. However, properly adjusted vales can help to reduce the amount of oil in the pipes. Drive it for at least an hour every week to get some heat & revs.
