Let's see some RS color schemes
I'm getting ready to repaint my '73 with RS bodywork.
Current thinking is it will be the traditional '73 RS with script on the doors/tail matching the Fuchs. I'm leaning towards white/red. It's a bit common but that's because it looks good. I am looking for opinions and would love to see some pictures of different color combinations in the RS scheme. Silver/red sounds interesting although I've never seen one. Let's see those RS color schemes. |

Maybe it's just me, but I love the light blue on white cars.

Agree with Moses, blue or black on white...

I also like green script on white and yellow cars, as it's a bit different. This isn't the most telling shot, but...

how about a black/orange-red combo?

Chuck, it's tough to argue with the standard white w/red/blue/green! And silver was never used on a factory RS due to problems with metallic paint and fiberglass (although that wouldn't stop me from painting it silver with a red interior. ;) ).
If you want something REALLY unique, paint it Day-Glo Orange. Porsche originally intended to paint ALL Carrera RS's in either this color or white. But some quirky German motor vehicle regulation prohibited the use of Day-Glo Orange??!! So it wasn't used, except on Michael Piech's personal RS (actually 1 of 3 2.7S's). This was the one with the Paisley interior!! (there's a photo of it in the archives under 'Show Me Your Interiors"). The wheels, Durant round side mirror, horn grill lights and headlight rings were also painted Day-Glo Orange. Just a thought .... -- Curt BTW: the car had no Carrera script or ducktail. |
That black-on-viper green is groovy, baby.

Here is that day glow interior:

RS colors

If "I" were going to paint the car white then green would be my color of choice. Last year at Dunkel Bros. I saw my first real in the flesh and bond white and green RS.
If I was not going to use white and still keep it factory I love the Gulf Orange and the Liliac RS paint. At Cambria this year I asked alot of folks what color I should paint my track wheel centers, The car is painted Porsche Iris Blue Metalic from the 1995 993, well the "BOYS" jumped at the chance to spend MY money and it ended up I should paint the front and rear bumpers and the wheel centers, all to match. The colors that were offered were everything from fuschia, to silver, red, viper green, and the biggest one was Tangerine, the same color in the R Gurppe on the windshield. Well, what to you guys think? Randy Jones |
Not what you are looking for, and it isn't an RS, but I kind of like this color:D :
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1763shrunk.JPG If you wanted to get a little goofy, but have a car that would really stand out, do the car as a big Elephant logo, White stripe down the center, valance to valance, with one side red and one side black. Tom |
<i>".... and it ended up I should paint the front and rear bumpers and the wheel centers, all to match. "</i>
Randy, are you talking about painting the entire front and rear bumpers a contrasting color?????? Or, just an accent stripe where the deco-trim would normally go? I'm trying to visualize this, because your car looks pretty darn nice as is!!! -- Curt |
Some awesome looking cars. I feel like a kid in a candy store.
John, WTF? That looks like two different incidents with the same car. I note the numbers are different, but the passenger is the same. And it looks like the rear wheels were changed. What caused the fire? Edit: I see now it is a right hand drive. That's the driver. That gray one looks very cool. That car has a certain clarity-of-purpose no-nonsense look. |
Arctic silver with black Fuchs and black Carrera script. Not like all the others... :)
