wheels for a 74 carr

the wheels i currently have on car are 16X7's and 16 X 8's. they seem too big and "thick" to me on the road. i have a set of 16 X 6's and 16 X7's. i suspect they will feel a bit lighter/nimble. would stock 15 X6's and 15 X7's feel even better? thanks, gary

What are the wheels? If Fuchs then they're good. If they're heavy then yes, lighter is better. But it's not really a width thing. 8 inch is pretty wide for narrow body though.

My '74 has 16x7, and 16x6 Carrera Fuchs. I run 195/55/16 front and 205/50/16 rear.

I drove my 77s with 15x6s before I chopped the fenders off, they are the lightest wheels I've owned.

Try different tire sizes. 74 Carreras only came with 185/70 in the front on 6" wheels.
Rears were 215/60's. Probably a lot smaller than you are running

185's will definitely give a lighter steering feel the a 225 or 245
Your car came with 6&7x 15's but will look better with 7&8x15
