Sounds like a bad starter solenoid.

Did you try giving it a jump? Sometimes the extra juice can kick the solenoid into engaging the starter.

Second stlrj inside the solenoid there is a plate that bridges the two contact points. When you energize the solenoid by turning the key it draws this plate down to join the two contactors together and complete the circuit to roll the starter. Over time the point where plate contacts gets pitted from arcing and finally the plate will not make a good connection and starter wont turn. You will just hear a click. If you are mechanically inclined take the end plate off the solenoid and you will see what I have described. It is spring loaded so hold cover until the load is released. Usually about an inch outward. Very simple. You can sometimes get new contactors from you local starter repair place. Maybe 10 dollars for a pair. They usually are held in place with screw. Goodluck Thanks Rob
