airequip ac hose line

Anyone ever use Airequip hose instead of Barrier Hose on an AC upgrade? My AC guy swears by it and has been in business locally for about 50 years. Any thoughts?

Haven't gotten a bill yet. It is a black hose like barrier but way more flexible. Seams very easy to work with.

You probably mean Aeroquip, which is an Eaton sub.
"Airequip" is a company in Mexico who distributes a range of industrial air compressor products.

There are a few manufacturers of refrigerant hose:
Eaton/Aeroquip
Parker
Goodyear
Continental (purchased Parker's AC division this year).

When it comes to the prevalent type of AC hose, "barrier", there are basically 2 types perse, standard diameter and reduced diameter, and the difference in weight and/or flexibility is marginal; I have seen more failed fittings on competitors reduced barrier hose vs. our's and others standard diameter barrier hose.

All manufacturers have their own constructions but they must comply with SAE standards, and some manufacturers have designs that match up with their own specific fitting designs.

As far as barrier hoses in a 911 or 930, either standard diameter or reduced barrier can be easily retro fitted into the vehicle. The key is knowing where to start, what to take apart and what not to take apart. Its all simply a matter of experience in the end; a DIY will take 8 hours on the ground from start to finish.

Personally, I prefer standard diameter barrier hose, it conforms (bends) easily to match the contours, it matches up with the stock Porsche hose clamps, and has surpassed all our expectations; Parker brand for the past 15 years, over 14,000 linear feet later, and their tech support has been exceptional.

So, how many linear feet of hose, or 911/930 hose sets were we swearing about?
