Stuck Transmission??? WTF

So I am getting some body and suspension work done. ( long story. Let's just say good insurance is worth every penny!) Anyways, while the shop was moving the car into detail they had some trouble getting it into 1st gear. they then out it into reverse and then forced (?) it back into first. Now the transmission is stuck.

The car will start with the clutch in but as soon as you start to release it, there is no movement and the transmission won't turn.

the car is a 78 sc. I had the transmission built a couple of years ago.

Please, any thoughts?

Thanks,

Craig

Check the basics first... (1) is the linkage in good condition? There is a plastic bushing that goes bad and can cause what you describe... (2) or you can have a misaligned fork that is causing the transmission to be stuck...

(1) is easy... (2) will required to open the transmission again....

915 transmission, probably stuck in reverse. Both reverse and first are engaged at the same time, so the box is locked. Happens more often than you'd guess. Here's my previous thread on this:

915 prob fixed. Big thanks to Pelican forums and John Walker!

Oh forgot about that one. Perfect match to OP's problem description.
