Well, JFairman, guess she told you!! She with her multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of cars. I'm sure she has garage space for each and every one of them. I would suggest you immediately put your car up for sale and use the proceeds to purchase a garage. No more tacky car covers for you! Then diligently save your money till you too can afford to own a high dollar "primary" and "secondary" car. To me this forum has always been a mostly struggling hobbyist site, and Ms. James doesn't seem to quite fit the description. One of the reasons I quit PCA was there were more folks of that ilk than I was comfortable with. (mixed in with some great people) Think of the guy who enters his month old 991 in the club Concour event and expects to win! As far as the cat killing comments in this thread, with the exception of the anti freeze comment, most of the suggestions are done "tongue in cheek" and meant to be humorous. This forum has some rough and tumble folks as members who use sarcasm quite often , get used to it! LET THEM EAT CAKE! Uwanna

The local humane society will loan/give you live traps, catch them and take them to the shelter. Simple legal and humane. Or invite the coyotes over, they cleaned our cat infestation out in less than 3 weeks.

I have a great idea. Put some "Motor Meister" stickers all over your car cover, and paint your engine fan red. Guaranteed to scare EVERYBODY away, including feral cats and blonde engine rebuilding trolls.

For those still upset by the anti-freeze comment, would this help you feel better?

I love dog people....
You guys with cat problems don't have mice, rats, snakes, moles, or anything else. You should thank cats for that. Instead you're the type of people who feed your dumb useless dogs like they are people. Sorry, but pets that serve no use in my community deserve no less than a .45 bullet in their head. That includes every dog within a 40 mile radius. So that's what I think about your anti-freeze comment. My cats have saved my life from poisonous vipers more times than your dog has pooped on your carpet. lolz We have dog repellant around here. It's called a 30-06 rifle. ha ha ha ha

Yes, I'm serious. Do you have a car? Then you have driver's license and you should have a garage. If you have an airplane, then you have a big building at the airport to pull the plane in. If you have a bed, then you have your bed in your bedroom. If you have a kitchen sink, then it is in your kitchen. It only makes sense to me to have a car for your garage. Or a garage for your car.

No offense taken, Janus. FWIW, I prefer to leave my Range Rover parked outside.

First of all, I own 2 adopted stray cats. Both have been neutered. I generally like cats.
I have found that Cayenne Pepper heavily distributed on the ground in our garden keeps the cats (oposums and raccoons) from digging or leaving deposits... We pick up 4oz containers at BigLots for a buck. In your case this may not work with frequent rain? You might also try using mouse traps placed on the roof, hood, and deck lid of the car. Maybe 8-10 of them. The "snap" will sting a little but not do any real damage. The cats will learn pretty quick that your 911 isn't a good place to hang out and sun bathe or "people watch" BTW, my 'garage' was a car cover for 5 years while my wife and I waited for the CA housing nonsense to calm down! Now luckily I have an 1100sf barn/garage and 700sf patio to park on... Cooper Last edited by Cooper911SC; 09-17-2013 at 11:23 PM.. |

????????????????????????????????????????? Could you REALLY do that ??? ![]() Take a mouse trap , and stick on it a small detonator (witch explose when throwed on the floor), that childrens use. The cat will be afraid and won't come again. That works for me , and my neighbourg has 30 cats .

Concertina wire hooked up to an electric fence generator - will also keep thieves away.
Seriously, for those who have a pet that drank ethylene glycol, there is a cure. Grain alcohol (Jim Beam, Jack, etc) is actually a legitimate antidote.

There is always the old favourite. Go to the local Zoo and pay the Zoo keeper for some lion pee or straw with the pee smell. Leave that around that car. No problems.

I wish I could unread this thread. Plus one on the non harming, non-lethal methods. Has to be something that you can just place near that will drive them away. I would look into the ultra sonic thing. Have you considered a portable car port with a zippered door, probably not much more expensive than the cover. I would check to see if your neighbor is in violation of a local ordinance, most municipalities have a limit on the number of pets you can have.

Years ago, an uncle related his challenge to keep cats off his car. This was in Florida around 1970, and most of the houses only had a carport, open on the sides. He started taping a few sheets of fly paper to the car.
He said after a few weeks, no cat would jump on the car, and the sight of cats trying to get the fly paper off them was a memory that still makes him laugh! |
