Hi,
My 86 3.2 Cab is still experiencing some difficulties of cutting out when cold. Its strange because it will only cut out if the motor is allowed to reurn to idle quickly. If the throttle is applied to slow the return to idle, she will idle fine and not cut out. It drives and acts perfectly when warm. Any idea of where to look, I have tested the idle valve and that past the Bently tests excect I can't feel it pulsating. Thanks. ------------------ David 86 Wide Body Cab Sydney, Australia |

Another thing you can check is ignition timing and whether the advance mechanism is retarding smoothly while the engine slows down. And smooth movement of the air flow sensor plate.

Superman,
I am not sure if the computer controlled 86's have weights in the ignition or not. Also, the round sensor plate for CIS and a square one for a DME (>'84) can mean the "barn door" just after the air filter? I have not heard of either case. May be worth checking. Did you already check the idle switch. I have not looked at or tested mine yet. However, I understand there is an idle switch which gets depressed when the throttle is returned. You might want to check with John Walker, as I recall either a Technical Posting on the connection or on the switch, perhaps it is for the switch mounting/adjustment. Good Luck I would like to know what you find out in case I ever have the same issue. ------------------ Nick Hromyak '85 Carrera 7 & 9 Fuchs Havin' Fun in Sacramento |
