Color-coordinated plug wires

I have orange silicone-jacketed spark plug wires that I installed many years ago (I forget the source). They have stainless steel conductors and have held up fine. However, I will need some additional for a new coil wire. Anyone know of a source for something equivalent? I'm afraid Magnacore red/blue and Accel yellow will clash w/orange and wouldn't receive Martha Stewart's jail house stamp of interior decorating approval.

Thanks,
Sherwood Lee

Sherwood,

Was the orange silicone stainless wire perhaps AC-Delco SS-550? I don't know if it is still available ... the last time I bought a roll was around '85! But, for a 7 mm cable ... it is unsurpassed in durability! Even when grungy with oil and dirt, a bit of isopropyl alcohol on a paper towel cleans it up like new!

Thanks for the hint Warren. I'll take a look around and see if I can locate some.

Warren,
FYI, i couldn't find the Delco wires you described. However, I did locate a plug wire set with the following specs:

7mm
Copper conductor
orange silicone jacket
= close enough

They're for a VW and sold by EMPI. Remember those folks? About $12 for a set. I need more wire due to ign. coil relocation. Probably more realistic then trying to buy only 2 feet of bulk wire from someplace.

Check out the deal at AJUSA in San Diego. They have a nice set of ignition wires for about $60 with the ends and all and they have a wide selection of colors. I have a set (so does a friend) and they worked great. Cut to length, etc.

Rich,
Thanks for the referral. My plug wires are fine; I'm moving the coil so I need more coil wire (to match of course).

I'll keep the AJUSA wires in mind when it's time to replace.

Sherwood Lee
