Was there recent transmission work done? It appears to me that the red creeps along the entire gasket joint. Could that be Loctite gasket sealant?

Another thought:
Pull the filler plug. Dip finger. Compare colors.

I used once some spray sealent for paper gaskets (Sure Tack or so) and it looked similar...

Thanks All for the feedback...the first "coolant" comment actually made me pause! The gearbox was recently out (twice) and serviced. I did not mention that this is a race car (PCA E Class)...not sure of that is relevant. I have an email into the shop/mechanic. There are spots on the floor, but it is relatively dry...odd to me because you can see how fresh it is on the car. Maybe a very slow drip. Thanks again for all the help...
