Porsche Crest New Car, New Member

After years of looking and waiting, I finally bought my first and dream Porsche today, a 1984 911 Targa. I bought it from the mechanic who has maintained it for the previous owner since 2000, in the small town where I live. It has 63,000 miles, and runs like a top. There are a few other enthusiasts here, so I got plenty of great advice.

Apparently the car was repainted at one point, in '84 after a fender was dented in a parking lot. The paint matches the trim parts, but the code on the car is L956 which is apparently Pewter Metallic, though the car looks more Hell Bronze. I only mention it as I want to get some touch up paint to fix a few chips.

Some pics:

The interior is burgundy, with the expected tear in the driver's seat, some warping of the dash, but no cracks. Any tips to make it flat again? No good pics of the interior, but some will follow when I get a chance. I really look forward combing these forums even more than I already have, and learning more from all the experienced experts on this site.

Ugh! When I post pics taken with my iPhone, they come out upside down! Sorry!

OK, more pics. I hit some of the black bits with Back to Black, which really helped them come back to life. I will post more exterior shots after I give 'er a good detailing. In the meantime, I am just loving driving this car. Tonight I took off the top, and cruised up to our ski hill on a cool, clear night. Perfection.

Wow, those are some sticky tires! Reminds me of the 917 shell in the Porsche museum!

Welcome, fellow Targa man. Nothing better than open sky overhead.

Targas at night are amazing, you will have many wonderful miles ahead!

Have fun stretcher her legs, and beware that you will find many small things to do regardless of how well she runs.
