Hella 128 attachment

Hi,
I just purchased a pair of hella 128 fog lights to back date my 1971 a little. However, neither of the mounting holes in the bumper bracket are even close to being correct. Both holes are at an angle and the hella bolt doesn't adjust side to side.

I can drill a new hole, but if anyone has any information about best way to do this please respond. They also seem like they need to sit back further into the bumper?

Here's a photo of bumper.

I have some photos of the hole you need to drill. I took them to send to another pelican with the same problem that you have. They are on my computer at home. I will send them to you when I get home from work.

Hella 128's were designed for swb cars, 1968 and earlier. Beginning in 1969, the Hella 139 or 169 was used and the light opening/mounting bracket was different. The 128 is a smaller sized light, sits back further in the hole, and mounts vertically whereas the 139 mounts horizontally with the mounting bolt/stud pointing rearward from the center of the housing. You should be able to mount your 128's into your bumper but they will, indeed, be set further back.

OK. I'll try to attach pics of the 128 install on my 70. The pics are of the right hand side. Left side would be mirror image. The blue tape is for location reference and the white background is paper towel for contrast with the bracket. Have fun.
