964 oil cooler in a 1974 911 coupe?
I bought a 964 oil cooler with fan and related to install in my 1974. Will this be more engineering and construction/modification that I want? I prefer to keep my 911 as close to stock, read: no cutting/bending sheet metal, as possible.
From what I read, and from looking at the cooler itself, the cooler will be a real PITA to install in the front fender a la Carrera oil coolers, unless I modify and rearrange to accommodate its larger size. I do not wish to change anything majorly in this fashion. Should I just sell this 964 cooler and buy a Carrera cooler? I appreciate any input or suggestions regarding this subject, I know there are many here who might have more information and I can't wait to hear from you. Thanks for your input and time.

I ve seen it done in a 75 with a 3.6 engine in it, fit was good but it doesnt have to be perfectly forward facing as I recall.

The first 2 pics are 993 passenger side the last driver side. Note the way the tub is built to channel air to the coolers, the coolers are sealed all arounfd their edges so that the air must go through them, it then exits out the bottom of the front spoiler ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
