Hi
|
Steering Wheel Play
Hello Everyone,
I purchased the metal sleeve to take the play out of my steering column. (1984 Carrera) From the posts I've read installation is nothing more than hammering the sleeve in place using a socket and hammer or rubber mallet. ![]() Well thats what I did and I couldn't get that sleave to slide in place. ![]() ![]() Am I missing something regarding this install? Thanks in advance. Larry

Read up on the Leland bushing insert versus the earlier steel bushing insert.
You might be happy you couldn't get the steel one installed. |

Thanks Timmy. I think I'm gonna buy the Leland bushing.

bushing
I did this 2 weeks ago. What I did was to use a wood on top of the new bushing and hammered the wood in circular motion - top 1st, right 2nd, bottom 3rd and right 4th. Did a few cycles until the bushing started to push in.
I got Mitch's bushing here at PP (PEL-ML-STR) - $29. http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/install_instructions_PEL-ML-STR.pdf
