1970 911 T no spark, red light on temp/druck gauge
I am new to this site but long time Porsche enthusiast, working on a father & son project.
We have a 1970 911 T Coupe, the car has not been driven in 5 years. I replaced the batteries and the red "G" light on the bottom of the Temp & Druck gauge is brightly lite up red even when the key is not on or in the ignition. This has happened before, but now I cannot get a spark. The motor turns over no problem but wont start, I pulled the coil wire from the Marelli distributor and checked for a spark against the ground and saw nothing. I pulled a spark plug wire and put a spare plug in and grounded it, no spark. I have a multimeter but am unsure how to test the coil or if I should be looking for low or no voltage before the coil first. My coil is a bosch 0-221-121 001, then 909 stamped below. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Welcome to the forum.
The red light issue is probably because of a bad diode in your alternator. I'd start by pulling it and having it checked. A picture of your car would be nice.
