Early car option codes

where are the codes. I dont have the books, and dont see anything on the hood. I have the decoder, but no codes.

There are no "codes" marked on my car, other than the paint code plate, that is. THe only way I know of finding out the options a car had when it left the factory is to get a Kardex, or whatever they call it. I've never paid for one, because I wrote the factory a letter before the Kardex thing came into being..and I got a letter in response, giving the same info. I figure that should be enough "documentation"...
