Don't speed in Germany tomorrow

Yes, a nationwide speed trap!

germany must be down on revenue too then.
whenever you hear about a " no tollerance blitz" its usually coz the coffers are down. governments love this crap as it generates tons of revenue and makes the look tough on crime.

Who needs to wait for tomorrow, they already got me on Monday, nothing serious though. In fairness its not a bad idea and is mainly in built up areas. The police have also placed maps on the internet letting you know where tzheir cameras will be, so theres no real excuse for getting caught. All I have to do now is wait for post with my fine

After reading the article in the link, I wouldn't call this a trap in any sense of the word. It certainly is organized, promoted, and widely publicized enough to underline its main function--to reduce speed on the highway, not to raise revenue. Seems to me, if anyone gets ticketed on Thursday, they must have been in a coma the week prior to getting in their car.

As always, life favors the well-informed.

hopefully they will not have the driving meters the trucks have !

a paper graph in the front wheel that tells your speed and the amount of time you have been driving.

Do trucks still have these ?

Yes they did - the paper graph was in the tach. For years they were that way then the recent method is GPS.

Yep, I remember my dad had one in his truck. He had to turn in his cards daily. The thing showed a squiggly line like a seismograph corresponding to RPM and time. To those who knew how to read them, determining speed was possible.

It showed directly speed not RPM. Part of the speedo but never in the hubs. And yes it is now modernized but not GPS based. GPS based is the toll unit.

The meter in the hubs was odometers when we in Sweden paid tax per km. Now the tax is included in the diesel.
