Why won't the turbo tie rod kits work on a SWB, '65-'68 911?? Simple thread incompatability, or tie rod length problem?

I apologize, I misread your question.
If I remember correctly, the way the tie rod attaches to the steering rack is different. I opened a post in our forums. A Pelican community member may be able to answer your question. - Nick |

The steering rack in the early cars is shorter, so when you set the toe with the Turbo tie rods you end up with about 3 turns of thread in the rack - not safe.
On the SWB cars the real hot set up is to find an SC that has been rear ended or caught on fire and swap in the entire front suspension - it will all bolt right in, crossmember, steering rack, struts, a-arms, everything. You get bigger brakes and MUCH more substantial lower ball joints than the early 3 bolt type. This is a really nice upgrade if you are not concerned about originality.
