What kind of car do you have? Year, motor, ect? On my 3.2 I just used an impact gun and it came right off.

If this is the case, you simply loosen/remove the fasteners (bolts) that secure the engine tin to the chain covers and side engine tin. Then remove the 4 nuts and engine bracket to gain access to the crank pulley bolt. The muffler has to be removed too before you are able to remove the engine bracket. An impact is an ideal tool to use for this kind of job. Quick and easy. Otherwise, use a breaker bar and a flywheel lock for the crank pulley removal. Keep us posted. looking at my notes, i removed bumper, muffler, heater cross pipe, and then removed the engine hunger cross member with jacking the engine up. no mention of removing the tin.
used 120V impact to remove the bolt. make sure the seal goes in straight. i used a pvc pipe end with diameter similar to the seal with success. when torquing the pulley bolt at 180lb/ft or something like that, i just put e-brake and gear in 5th and that was enough. good luck.

I was part of the 'pit crew' for a friend during a DE day.
His son was driving the car when that bolt came out and the pulley flew off as the car was doing 6,000 rpm in fifth gear on the back straight. The pin that keeps the pulley from turning had sheared. We did a partial engine drop, yanked off the muffler, tin, mounting brackets, etc., drove to the next town for parts and got the whole car back together and on the track, missing only one session. In other words, it isn't hard to do when you are determined. I'd do a partial drop - if your engine isn't out already - undo whatever is in your way and take an impact gun to it.

I found this easy on a non-AC mid year. You only need a box end 19mm wrench, strap wrench and cheater pipe. No need to remove anything else for access.
I plan on using the OE 116mm pulley for cold weather and will use the 134mm pulley in the hotter months.
