HF CIS Pressure Guage
Hi all-
Just wanted to post some positive feedback on this Harbor Freight pressure gauge kit I bought. I used it on my CIS and it worked great with all fittings included. Had it hooked up in about 15 minutes and it worked flawlessly. The hoses are all stored underneath the guage storage area. There is also an additional 25% off for Oct coupon (use your google-fu) so you get it for under $70 ($67.49 to be exact). For me cheap is good, and I wanted to pass on the info. (BTW, no affiliation with HF). Master Fuel Injection Pressure Test Kit Pittsburgh Automotive Item #:97706 Matt ![]() Last edited by matt930s; 10-22-2013 at 09:45 AM.. |

Good to know. I was just about to buy one and was afraid of HF but was going to try it anyway. And thanks for the tip on the coupon.

Nice thing about this set is that you can work on other cars. Troubleshooting on most FI cars call for pressure in the rails, now Matt can do that.

For those that inquired, here is the approx setup I used to hook to my 78 SC CIS (can't hook to car right now).
Believe it's fitting 19 to wur and 20 to FD line. ![]() |

Just bought this tester, and it's huge value for the money. I have hooked it up, but it was too late in the day to get any numbers. I did get a system pressure of 95 or so on the 930, so the gauge does work
![]() Each line has a one way shut off valve, which looks identical to a tire stem valve on a car tire. This is to prevent leaks when disconnected. I did wonder if these one way valves effect any of the readings? These valves are tiny, I can't believe they flow much fluid. Do the more expensive pressure testers have these too? I would think that very little fluid would go through these, which may cause higher readings. Anyone have issues with that? Seems many have used this set up successfully. Bo |

With the coupon it was $70 or so.
Harbor freight tools are a smoking deal. Honestly, I have been going there more and more often. Most of their tools are extremely good. I know in the past they had a reputation for crap tools, but that just hasn't been my experience. Some tools need some tweaking to use, but for the money, are a steal. Some of my favorite tools: 1) Body ram/hydraulic puller. $100 or so. I have used this for years to fix cars, build homes, do demolition, jack up sagging walls/etc. Helluva deal!!! 2) Drill press. No issues. You have to put the chuck on with a dial indicator, so it doesn't wobble. 3) Air compressor. This things rocks! I can't believe how well it works for $800. Puts out massive amounts of air, hardly ever runs. The list goes on... Bo |
