Anyone ever use a marine battery box

With all I've heard about leaking batteries I get a little paranoid about leaving the battery in my car over the winter. I drive the car occasionally during the winter months so I don't want to remove the battery. Has anyone ever used a marine type battery box in their 911? Any reason not to?
There wouldn't be any need to put the top on the box and it would surely contain any leaks that would cause corrosion.

I ran a marine box for a number of years in my vr6t. I made the change about 4yrs ago to a sealed and vented Jegs brand box in that vehicle. It's nhra etc. approved.

I use a gel cell Optima in the 911. Not the most reliable battery but zero fumes.

I've used a marine box in a past car..71 Saab Sonett. The ability to contain any possible leaks / condensation and also protect against stray objects shorting against the terminals were my thoughts there. In that car, the battery is under the floor of the (rear) trunk. I have a marine box for my 70 911T now, but have yet to install, as the box is a little bigger than I'd like and might try for something smaller.

My '74 had a marine battery box when I bought the car in 1984 and it is still there... many batteries later.

Thanks, I'm putting one in today, minus the top cover.
