12V terminal in the engine compartment MSD supply?

Is the 12V terminal point in the engine compartment a good contact for the +12 power supply for an MSD 6201 box? The MSD install instructions say the +12 power supply should NOT be the alternator and that 12V terminal point has the alternator connected to it.

The 12V terminal point is always hot. So it is a direct contact to the + side of the batteries. Should be a solid 12V power supply to connect the MSD +12V power supply.

Suggestions?

Thanks,
Steve

12 volt supply at the alternator is connected directly to the starter positive terminal and connected from there directly to the battery.
Also connected directly to pin 14 in 14 pin connector...
