Effect of oil in gas on octane
Experts, will a a very small amount of oil in gas change the octane rating?
By small I would say a once in 5 gallons. I have a snowmobile with automatic oiler, But I always throw a dash of Amsoil in the tank anyway.... Lots of times as summer goes along I rob the snowmobile and put it in lawn mower,Out board, Porsche, what ever, just so i can put fresh gas in for winter .

The oil won't make much difference but the gas will lose octane rating as it ages. If it's a few months old, I wouldn't use it in anything that is picky about the octane rating it needs.

Besides a slight increase in emmisions I doubt the engine will notice at all. Gas does age quickly. When I buy gas to fill up the cans I ALWAYS add Stabil. If the gas is real old even with the stabil I pour in in my car gas tank along with a tank full of fresh gas.

A little Marvel Mystery oil has been added to gas for a long time by lots of folks since lead became extinct.

Yes to the Marvel red stuff.
In fact in a diesel it gives a noticeable increase in power.
