Question The journey is almost over… but

After two long years of PO corrective maintenance and restoration my baby is road worthy again. For the first time on Thursday I pulled the 930 out of the garage and took a spin around the neighborhood. To my surprise she ran smooth and clean throughout the band. Since I practically disassembled the entire car over the past two years I was quite pleased with the results. While everything seems to be in order I still have a couple of concerns…

For those not following the saga I will give a quick update. I now have a 1bar spring and C2 Pop-off valve installed. Additionally I have a K29 hybrid, headers, and a dual out exhaust. I also installed a new thermo valve, warm-up regulator, plug wires, plugs, dual MSD 6AL’s, and dual MSD coils.

These are my items of concern:

1) Cold start problem. When the car sits overnight it has trouble starting. I turn the key three times then it fires. It struggles for a few seconds the evens out around 900 RPM. Once the car is warm it idles around 1000 RPM. It has no trouble starting when it’s warm, only cold starts. As I mentioned I've installed a new warm-up regulator and thermo valve.

2) I am only hitting a maximum of .9 bar of boost. Since I have a 1bar spring installed shouldn’t I get at least a bar? Is it possible that the C2 Pop-off is preventing it from hitting a bar?

3) The Oil Pressure indicator is telling me the following… when the engine is cold the pressure needle is at the top, as the engine warms up it drops dramatically. Once the engine is hot the pressure indicator sits just above 2, which sounds really low? Is this cause for alarm? Under acceleration the pressure indicator does not move at all, is this normal?

CIS? Maybe a vacuum leak with the Warm Up Regulator.

Oil Pressure....does the pressure stay the same when reving the motor? Or does it climb about even with the indicated rpms on the tach.....low oil at idle is normal.

Mikez,

>CIS? Maybe a vacuum leak with the Warm Up Regulator.

I've replaced all the vacuum lines when I installed the new WUR. I'll have to do some further testing in this area.

Oil Pressure stays the same when reving. After the engine is hot it sits right at the 2 mark and doesn't budge.

Oil pressure should fluctuate even when warm..... The normal rule of thumb is 1bar of pressure on the gauge for every 1thousand of RPM.....

jabb,

If it doesn't fluctuate, what does that mean? What type of tests should I do? Is this a sensor issue or internal engine problem?
