Gas Tank Clean / Seal in San Diego OR OC??

Anyone know a good shop in San Diego that would clean out and reseal the inside of my tank? It doesn't leak, but it has been sitting for a while. I'm replacing much of the fuel line, so i figured no sense in not removing and going over the tank.

Does anyone have any general recommendations about this process? I had considered the POR 15 approach, but really want to make sure it is done right.

I'm in North County, so I could drive to south Orange County if there is a good shop there.

Thanks,

Doug

I'm not aware of anybody in the SD area that does it. Did you do a search? If you have the tank out, that's most of the work. You can buy the POR-15 kit and do it cheaper and faster. Just put a 3 to 6 foot section of chain in it and move the tank around to clean up the rust scale inside (make sure you remove the fuel sender, screen, etc.). Then plug the holes, clean it out with the Marine Clean from the kit, rinse and do the sealer. If you don't want to do it yourself, do a search. I seem to remember several threads about it.
Good luck.

Marc,
Thanks a bunch! You make it sound pretty straightforward. Part of my hesitation is how to dispose of the chemicals, which result from the cleanup, sealer, etc..

Anyone recommend a radiator shop in the San Diego area that they've had a good experience with?

Erm, an old thread, but can I ask what you ended up doing (in San Diego)? I'm about pull my gas tank and am considering getting it cleaned/sealed professionally, or DIY-ing it.

I never ended up having it done. I would personally use the Por-15 products though to DIY.
I've also read through a chain in side and shaking the crap out of it with some chemicals
don't remember which chemicals, though...
