Heater Fan - Can I mod it to last?
My engine-mounted heater fan in my 86 died and upon pulling it apart, I was pleased to find that the reason for its death was a disconnected and badly worn motor brush instead of the typical worn-oblong bushing.
It's a SoCal car, so the heater fan hasn't seen much use. My question is, anything I can do it while it's apart to squeeze some more life out of it? Grease the bushing? The replacement aftermarket motor's up to $175, so anything I can do to keep it in good shape, I'm interested in. |

Since you have it apart, why not trying taking it to a local electric motor rebuilder and see if they can fix it?

Grainger sells a direct bolt on replacement. I replaced mine years ago. Works great. I've since backdated my heat so I'll sell the fan motor if interested and if I can find it.
