Part#964-521-003-09...is this a sport seat or not?

I'm negotiating on a set of sport seats from across the country. The pics. don't "look" like sport seats. Please advise if part number is consistant with a sport seat. Thanks.

Thumbs down Not

appears to be a "confort seat" w/ fabric inserts, from a 944.

I don't have the part number. But just guessing? If they don't "look" like sports seats? They probably aren't....

are you sure? The pics. are showing a full leather seat with 4-way power on both. The guy claims the seats came out of a "cup car". You think he is yanking my chain?

964-521-003-46 is the closest I could find, and comes up as the "confort seat" . . the dash # is not likely to change it in to sportseats. . .but it is possible, I suppose.

Island- that part #, is it for a 944? He claims seats are from a 1992 911 Cup Car (I don't know what that is).

FWIW, Porsche used the same seats in many models.
I can say those certainly don't look like 1985 911 sportseats.

These look like the standard seats from a 964 (and the part number agrees). Full leather, as far as I can see, not fabric inserts. Not sports seats, though.

'sport seats' are like the ones that came in the 930's... they're like our '85 carrera seats, but the bolsters and supports come up much higher and are much more 'huggy'. those pics aren't the 'sport seats' that you hear people talk about.

Here's a pair of sport seats from an RS America 964. These seats rock compared to the partial leather, standard seats I orginally had (second picture)

Question

Kevin / KTL,

I'm trying to find out if 'sports' seats are lower than standard/comfort seats to get some more headroom for my 911sc

I've read that the 'sports' seats ( apart from having way better bolsters ) sit you lower - not 'cos of where the seat bolts to the floorpan - but in the design of the seat itself?

saw that you'd put in some sports seats - do you know if these are lower than the standard Comfort ones you removed?

many thanks for any help.

Tim

Those photos depict a standard mid/late '80s 911 seat, NOT optional 'sport seats'. Sport seats are unmistakable, like the ones KTL posted, they have side bolsters which are prominent enough to use as arm rests.

Tim,

If you compare power sport seats to power std. seats, I think the height is the same. If you compare a power seat to a non power seat, I think the powered is a little lower. The reason I say this is because my car was originally equipped with a power driver's seat and non-power passenger seat. The passenger side had removable spacer plates (about 1in./25mm thick) placed beneath the seat rails.

When I installed the new power passenger sport seat, the seat was noticeably higher (seat put down to its lowest setting) with the spacer plates beneath it. The new driver's seat felt the same (as far as height is concerned) as the original seat when installed. Therefore, I gotta assume the power seat is lower than the non-power seat., regardless of whether it's sport or non-sport/std.

This assumption is based on my observations with Carrera seats vs. 964 RS America seats. I'm not too familiar with SC seats. Although, I can say that my 87 Carrera std. seats bolted right into the 83 SC of the guy who bought them from me. Anybody knows otherwise, please correct me!!!!
