Seeking advice on replacement cat or bypass pipe
On my 88 3.2 L Carrera with Steve Wong chip and M&K 1 in 1 out muffler, the biscuit in aftermarket catalytic converter came loose and rattling (after only 2 years
![]() So, my question is will performance cats, like the Dansk sold by Pelican pass CA smog check? If so, that is the way I think I would go--maintain some backpressure, but more free flowing and better sound! If not, I was thinking of keeping the cat I have for smog checks and putting a cat bypass and maybe muffler bypass for track days. Looking for advice and/or experience from anyone who has used either Dansk cat with more free-flow, a cat bypass pipe (noise level and performance), or other options that my P-car brethren have used. Any advice and opinions are greatly appreciated! |

ive had a dansk for over 10yrs. its a good piece performs well, the looks go away pretty quickly if you get the steel version. if ur not in a hurry just look for an m&k, thats what i would do. oh the smog- yes i pass w/the dansk. the smog guys have no idea about our cars.
i passed last time in ca without having a o2 sensor even present.

I'm using a Fabspeed sport cat. My car runs better and pulls like a train from 3k on. There were rumors that Fabspeed was going to get CARB certification late this year on their sport cats, but no word yet. It's a beautiful piece of craftsmanship and comes with high quality hardware and gaskets. I bought it through Pelican. My original cat was partially clogged.
