Any tricks to tighten up distributor cap?

Changing the ignition parts on a 70 914-6. Original distributor has the older style spring steel clips to hold the cap and the clamps are real loose. Seems like these all run loose (have a few spares). Thinking about slipping something over the claw that grips the cap to tighten the hold. Anyone have a similar or different solution? Any input would be appreciated. Thx

On our rally car, we place a cable tie around the clips.

Actually, I just bend mind abit in a tight bow shape and that's add the tension to hold it down. Simple enough.

+1 on what sunroof said. Just add a little bit more bow to the clip, works like a charm. I just used a pair of pliers to bend down the top clamp part of the clip, which added a little more bow to the clip. It didn't take much.
